A raccoon dog wanders into a temple and, in danger of being discovered, transforms into a tea kettle, but is put on fire and panics. As he rolls around, he is unable to change back into his original form. The raccoon dog is saved by an old antiques dealer, who thanks him by showing off his acrobatics skills, which makes him very popular. After making a fortune, the raccoon dog returns to living a leisurely life at the temple, a delightful old story.

Based on the legend of Morinji Temple in Tatebayashi City, Gunma Prefecture, this story is a combination of stories of animals returning their gratitude, and is illustrated with comical illustrations by Kazama Shiro. The book's appeal lies in its rhythmic reading and nostalgic design. Published in 1971, it truly has a "Showa Retro" feel. An explanatory "Mama's Guide" is included at the end of the book.
