While studying at Tokyo College of Photography, Tamura Akihide's talent was recognized by the school's principal and photography critic, Shigematsu Koen, and he exhibited his "House" series at the "New Japanese Photography" exhibition held at the Museum of Modern Art in New York in 1974. This work was then added to the collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York, and Tamura established himself as a leading Japanese photographer in his twenties.
This exhibition catalog traces the trajectory of Tamura's creative career through approximately 100 works, including his debut work "BASE," which photographed a U.S. military base in Japan, as well as unpublished works, and examines Tamura's photographic world, which has not faded with the passage of time.
